Fatal-Hit Run Dutchess Crash: Female Suspect Nabbed After SUV Strikes Woman In Fishkill

A female suspect who fled the scene has been apprehended after a woman who was struck by an SUV on a busy roadway in the region died, according to authorities.

The incident happened around 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 in Dutchess County on Merritt Boulevard near Vanderbilt Way in the town of Fishkill.

The crash was reported to the state police at approximately 10:10 a.m. Saturday.

The responding trooper upon arriving began life-saving techniques with an off-duty emergency medical technician. 

The victim, Balvinder Parihar, age 72, of Fishkill, was transported by Empress EMS to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital where she was later pronounced dead,

On Monday, Oct. 23, New York State Police announced that 62-year-old Aida Y. Miranda, age 62, of Fishkill, has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash, a Class D felony.

An investigation determined Miranda, while operating a 2019 Kia Sorrento, struck the victim on Merritt Boulevard without reporting the incident, state police said.

Miranda has been arraigned in the town of Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail. Her next appearance is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 4.
